Serious Sportcards for Serious Collector’s

August 5th, 2008

MilBid has teamed up with Elite Sports Card Forums to build a bridge between a collector’s forum and a place for those collectors to come and sell their treasures. Getting support in different niches can be difficult but with an owner like Nick, of Elite, things can happen. At MilBid, we want to welcome sport card enthusiasts to our home here with open arms. As one of the great growing forums we expect an awesome venue for our members to go over and discuss what they love most.

In an effort to help each other we want to extend a hand to them as they have done for us. Doing large exchanges of banners and content helps sites out and this one is no different. This is an area of the internet that has a huge base and we want them to feel at home wheeling and dealing rookie cards to sets. We know that many people are out on the net looking for great deals on sports cards and now we have an avenue on MilBid just for that. So if you are a collector we hope you will go and check them out and tell them you are from MilBid and have them come by and support the troops with us.

Writing Yourself into Sales

July 24th, 2008

What a lot of sellers don’t realize is that if you put on a little makeup it may enhance you, if you cake it on it may detract from you, but neither will guarantee you any results. This is a metaphor on how you present yourself to the buyers you are hoping to attract. In today’s online sales people are very concerned about the look and less about what makes them a good seller. No matter the template you wrap yourself in, or how fancy you try to make yourself, you will always miss the biggest selling point of all time…becoming known. Read the rest of this entry »

Auctions Directly Support Soldiers

July 21st, 2008

Everyone knows eBay, but hardly anyone knows any other auction site except ones that have already died like Yahoo Auctions. As the times have changed many webmasters have decided to go out and buy a script and have a go at the auction site of the web. Since the first outcries of changes in the eBay world people have dived off the deep end setting up their own websites, their own auction sites, or fleeing to find on of these venues for the sales to swell up again. In the end though the majority of these websites have no end result past lining someone’s pockets and yielding no results in the wake of it all. Read the rest of this entry »

MilBid Teamwork

June 10th, 2008

A lot of people join an auction site thinking that the sole owner is going to be able to do it all. I mean it is their site right? This would be correct, however, to be successful it takes more than one person. It takes more than a corporate identity to exist. A site is only successful when it comes together as a team and unifies with each other. Hardly ever will you see a booming site where the members are not behind it. Read the rest of this entry »

New MilBid Video

June 9th, 2008

A lot is going on with MilBid these days and one of the newest thing is our first of many videos we will be airing through the net and other venues. We are excited to reach people and we will do this in a multitude of ways. What’s makes us different? We do things differently. We don’t like the standard ways of reaching people and look outside the box in new ways to show people we are here. The video is nothing short of that. It’s not the be all end all but it’s a great start in getting people looking.

We announced it on our MilBid forum and now we are announcing it here on the blog. You can see it on youtube as the MilBid Field Video. We hope you enjoy this as we had fun making and producing it. It’s not everyday you can be involved in fun projects that other people get to be involved with.

Wanted Domain Sellers, SEO Sellers, and Digital Sellers

May 7th, 2008

There is no secret that digital sellers have it made with no postage fees and the fast service they tend to give. In the days of the web we want to expose the mega products available to people that make the net what it is. People selling things from Diggs to Domains are wanted in the auction world as well, but we understand you get the good with the bad. Bad sellers will be weeded out and good sellers will be verified. With the fast pace of the internet these are booming products people want. Why should MilBid be any different? The more items we serve, the more people recognize us.

If you are selling services then we ask you check us out. This is a great organized way to get you products out to people that would love to have them. If you are from another country but can provide these items then you are welcome here. If you are a scammer or can’t provide a service as stated in your auction for the price you get then it will take only one report to block you from MilBid. We hope to help sellers in this area of eBooks or anything else digital to come and list with us. Everything is free so there should be no worries about risking anything.

Pass the word around and help a community become even bigger and even more successful! Perhaps if you are in this field you will also help MilBid by donating your services from time to time in helping us reach even more people that want your service. Everyone helps everyone here and we would be honored to try delivering this type of product on our site.

MilBid is the 1st Place Winner of RSD Surfing!

April 28th, 2008

 surferweek.png

Today we had the results handed to us. Really Smart Deals ran a competition to surf again another auction site. The surfing consisted of pages that were predetermined from auctions sites to sale pages of members. Every time you clicked a new page you received a point. Our member Bays Beauty took first place from Your High Bid and ended their 3 week campaign of all prizes. We did this in a fun competition and put our team together for the surfing. Out of our team 3 members successfully got into the top 10. I would like to congratulate them in their respective order: BaysBeauty (1st Place!), Vinewood (3rd Place!), and Southern Belle Collectibles (7th Place!). Of course a very well earned thank you for the other Milbidders that took part in helping raise milBid another notch of visibility.

So for the surfing that was done, MilBid earned advertising and the right to hold the trophy for a whole week on the Really Smart Deals website. In the heart of competition we thank the other site for letting us play with them in a great click-off! This truly shows the camaraderie MilBid instills and has among it’s member base.  You can see that for a new site like our’s we can show the world we are strong when we work as one not only in the contests but to make a booming site like we have. There is no other place on the net that will have the tight-knit and robust site like we have. I am so very proud of having the team we have.

What makes this such an achievement you ask? No one knew much about us a week ago when we joined the competition 2 days after it started. MilBidders stayed awake for extra hours, called each other, sent emails, and worked to make sure everyone knew what the rules were. We went in with a mission and we completed that mission. Other sites can see we aren’t going anywhere and this is only the beginning of what we are capable of. Cocky? Yes indeed becuase we know we have something unique and we plan on doing this together. We help each other succeed and not through empty words but actions. That is the toughest team to beat.

So as the trophy winners, we are happy to have been able to enjoy the victory thanks to everyone that made that possible. See you in the next contest when MilBid brings the whole team in with another attempt at victory!

MilBid Community

April 14th, 2008

Lately the community at MilBid is growing leaps and bounds. This could be contributed to word of mouth, a wonderful site to be a part of, list of features available, no fees sitewide, or the fine community of members. No matter the reason we are thrilled so many people are turning to MilBid as their online auction house. We have been increasing in all areas but the one we are most proud of is the community itself. So many members dedicate themselves in helping others succeed, giving advice, spreading the word, and generally spreading the kind warmheartedness this site was built upon. Unlike other forums and sites we filter our community to keep things positive in growth and personality.

We don’t take kindly to people that want to bring the overall attitude of the site down a notch. We don’t allow harsh posts, or anything threatening in our auction site. This website was built in the wants and needs of people that have been abused or treated wrongly in other venues that need a place that will treat them fairly, help them sell, and let them actually make money. We are succeeding where many others are failing.  The administration here at MilBid is greatful, respectful, understanding, and most of all not greedy. We want sales to flourish and the community here not only trusts in that but boasts about it throughout the world wide web.

If you have been looking for a place special for your items, or are looking for a great place to purchase something then please come in and get to know us. We don’t separate buyers and sellers. We encourage an open platform where questions can be asked, and you can get to know who you are buying from. We are tearing down walls that other sites put up in the hope we can show the world how this improves activity in the auction format.  Make no bones about it, MilBid wants you and we will do what needs to be done to make sure you have the tools you need to be a fan and family of MilBid.

Some U.S. Army Posts Block MilBid.com

March 25th, 2008

Tonight an email was received from a soldier saying MilBid was blocked on the Army Fort. When asked for the reasoning we received word that the Army posts are concerned with possible pornography being on the site. To squelched any rumor of this we fell it’s necessary to get word out to everyone that there is currently nor will there ever be pornography on MilBid. This site was developed to help the units and troops and putting such material would not only disintegrate the opportunity to complete our mission but would an extremely unsound decision to make regarding the audience we hope to develop and keep.

We ask any Airman, Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Coastie to express this concern through the chain as it completely hurts the sites objectives and we want to be seen as an asset to the military and not a threat of any kind. It was sad to receive news of this and we truly implore those making the decision to block or unblock websites for unsafe material to take a whole hearted look through our site so they can make the assessment of what we do and create here for the entire population of the world to enjoy and utilize so the military members can receive what they deserve. Anything short of unblocking or unfiltering hurts not only us but the people we are trying to serve through the service we are providing. We hope the posts will reconsider MilBid as a safe site for members to travel to in the future.

To the rest of the unblocked world we offer this as a word that we will not be offering pornography as a product on our website. We do not need to profit or entertain this type of material to earn revenue in support of those that serve. Anyone attempting to undermine this policy will be deleted completely from our system immediately.
