There are thousands of online auction sites to choose from. There are sites that will give you the same if not better results. Many sites use a similar script as we do. Many sites are well beyond us in members and items listed. So if this is the case why should we exist? Why stay alive in hopes of being someone but having the harsh reality of the giant will always live and its not us? Ahh, lets talk about US, Milbid.

MilBids unique mission is different than any other auction site on the internet today. Sure its entirely free, its ran by real military personnel, its got all the bells you could ask for, and sure its got a great community. This is not what sets us apart though. The real feature behind MilBid is that we give our proceeds to real units serving around the world through the donations we collect and the advertising money we receive. Military units, not just American, have the opportunity to reap real benefits from MilBid through monetary donations and care packages. This is our mission and why we exist.

This mission can't be completed without buyers and sellers which attract people to be involved with what MilBid does. The webmaster, admin, or its moderators reap no financial gain just to gain. This auction site was built in the spirit of supporting our troops by troops, and the people that support them. The result is sellers getting the best possible web features to sell with for the cost of nothing. The buyers get products at costs that are lower because there are no fees, and the men and women serving, served, or will serve get real support from MilBid.

So now that you are aware of why we exist let's talk about when we existed. We opened MilBid on February 8^th for open house and launched on February 14^th. Since then we have grown by single digit numbers per day and steadily brought in visitors from search, recommendations from users, articles on the web, web 2.0 advertising, and other venues to attract people to MilBid. We recognize our numbers are meager in comparison to auction sites that have been around for a long time. As our numbers increase more sellers and buyers will join and take part in our site.

The admin is active duty military and donates all his efforts to the success of MilBid and its members. The behind the scenes efforts are acknowledged through volunteerism, donations, and great activity in reaching out to Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines around the world. Unlike anything else in the ecommerce world we pride ourselves in doing and not talking. We take our position very seriously and view our position as not singular but as a whole through a collective means to do what we do.
