In the Vietnam War, the "silent men" are pairs of snipers whose task is to lurk in the jungle ready to shoot enemy targets on sight. Tobias Patterson and Jackson Monroe--both African-Americans--are teamed up in an otherwise white unit, and are given the assignment of assassinating a man named Dac, a master of camouflage. Patterson bungles the job, killing the wrong man, and Monroe, who is left behind wounded, must somehow survive and get himself to safety.
